Privacy Policy

• Account details: your email address, a password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), and the username you choose.
• Profile: an optional avatar you select from anime/manga characters.
• Your activity: the anime and manga you add to your lists, watch/read statuses, ratings, notes, custom lists, and tier lists.
• Social features: friends you add, friend requests, and your sharing preferences.
• Games: your scores, streaks, and answers in in-app games.
• AI features: the messages and inputs you send to AI-powered features, and the responses generated for you.
• Communications: messages you send us (for example, support or privacy requests).

• Usage and device data: app/product analytics such as which screens and features you use, session and device identifiers, app version, and device type. This is pseudonymous and you can opt out (see 'Your choices').
• Push notifications: if you enable them, a device push token so we can send notifications (for example, friend requests). You can turn these off at any time in your device settings.
• Technical logs: our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically process limited data such as IP address and request logs to operate and secure the Service.

Anime and manga catalog information (titles, artwork, descriptions) is public reference data and is not personal information about you.

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and your account.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To power features you use, including lists, social features, games, and AI features.
• To send you service and account messages (such as password resets) and, if enabled, push notifications.
• To understand how the Service is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
• To protect the Service, enforce our Terms, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information with a small set of providers who process it on our behalf, only as needed to run the Service:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage of your account and app data.
• Vercel — hosting of our website and related server logs.
• Expo — mobile app build and delivery of push notifications.
• Apple and Google — 'Sign in with Apple' / Google sign-in (if you use them) and delivery of push notifications to your device. Google also serves embedded YouTube videos.
• OpenAI — processing the inputs you send to AI features to generate responses.
• PostHog — product analytics (pseudonymous usage data).
• Resend — delivery of transactional emails such as password resets.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or in connection with a business transfer. Anime/manga catalog data comes from AniList; we send AniList no personal information about you.

Some features use AI. The text you enter into these features is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate a response. We send only what the feature needs — never your whole profile. AI responses can be inaccurate; don't rely on them as professional advice. Your AI conversations are private to your account and are deleted when your account is deleted.

The Service links to third-party sites (such as streaming platforms) and embeds third-party content (such as YouTube trailers). Those third parties have their own privacy practices, which we don't control. Sakuri does not currently include paid affiliate links; if we add them in the future, we will disclose them clearly.

The Service is intended for people who are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at Sakuri.hello@gmail.com and we will delete it. Adult/explicit anime content is filtered out of the Service by default.

• Access and update: you can view and change your username, email, and list data in the app.
• Delete your account: you can delete your account in the app, which removes or anonymizes your personal data across the systems we control.
• Export: you can request a copy of your personal data by contacting us.
• Analytics opt-out: you can turn off usage analytics in the app's settings.
• Push notifications: you can disable these in your device settings.

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have additional rights such as to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at Sakuri.hello@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data across the systems we control.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and database access controls. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

We and our providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from outside these countries, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in them.

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
